SKCS Yearbook 1976•10 South Kortright Central School Almedian
SKCS Yearbook 1976•10 South Kortright Central School Almedian

1976•10

To the Class of 1976,

Your class as the unique privilege of graduating from South Kortright in the year of our nation's Bicentennial observance. This time of obvious significance for all citizens should have even greater meaning for you.

Although it sometimes seems to have become fashionable to be critical of our nation and its history, any fair or objective evaluation of our country's first 200 years protrays a history of human progress unparalleled in any other era or nation. Our founding fathers began the creation of a new society with a foundation composed in search for justice, liberty, human dignity, and opportunity for all people.

Although these ideas have never been fully realized, progress toward them has been continuous and often dramatic in comparison with standards in most of the rest of the world.

Interestingly, your heritage as American Citizens and as graduates of South Kortright is also the basis for your most important responsibility and challenge for the future. Each of you has a deep and inescapable duty to past and future generations to continue helping make the great American dreams come true for all people. If your education has helped you develop the ability to think clearly, to love the truth and to respect your fellow man, I am sure that you will accept the responibility gladly.

I am very pleased to offer my sincere congratulations to every member of the class and to express a special word of praise to the members of the yearbook staff for this splendid issue of the Almedian.

Sincerely,
Ivan W. Beams
Supervising Principal
