The one big aim of the cheerleaders this year was to help our boys win the County Sportsmanship Award. With the spirit and cooperation of the entire student body this was achieved, and we were proud when the banner was presented to our school.
The year began with the try-outs and the selection of six cheerleaders for each of the squads, Varsity and J.V's. Both squads had new uniforms this year. The Varsity's were blue princess style dresses with gray trim. The J.V's. wore gray-topped, blue-skirted outfits of Indian-head material. Miss Anne Norberg was our manager. Each squad initiated some new school cheers, among which were Boom Boom, 15 Rahs, Go-Team-GO, Basket-aBasket.
On March 12th both groups went to Margaretville to attend the Annual Cheerleading Festival of all schools in the country. Although the teams were not rated, opinions on "criticism sheets" gave our teams many favorable comments. The Festival was the grand finale of another good cheerleading season.
