J. V. Cheerleaders
The pride and joy of the school this year were the Varsity and Jay-Vee Cheerleaders, who were managed by Mrs. Zenger. The Jay-Vee Cheerleaders, with their new gray and blue uniforms, abundance of novel routines for old cheers, and introduction of new yells, led the spectators in cheers and the Jay-Vee players to victory.
Four new cheers brightened the Varsity squads' repertoir toward the end of the season. Our often-victorious team was greatly helped by the pep, well-timed cheers and tirelessness of the Varsity Cheerleaders.
The mascots were well provided with pep and spirit. Their routines highlighted the work of the high school girls.
The cheerleaders not only participated in their own school activities but also in the "Cheerleaders Festival", first in this area, held at Walton on March 6, 1948, where our cheerleaders ranked near the top in rating by other schools.
