Annual Prize Speaking Contest
In the high school auditorium on November 22, 1932, the annual prize speaking contest was held.
Five girls and three boys participated in the contest. The girls were Effie Roberts, Catherine Davis, Edith Platt, Isabelle Pogue and Agnes Murphy. The boys who contested were Harold Barber, Kenneth Storie and Leland Ploutz.
Catherine Davis deservedly earned the first place for the girls with the selection "The Celebrated Jumping Frog", by Mark Twain. First prize for the boys was awarded to Harold Barber, who spoke on "Hero Worship", by Nelson Sweeney. Second prizes were awarded to Edith Platt and Kenneth Storie.
Prizes for the contest were presented by R. A. Hoyt, W. S. Rich, E. L. Foote, W. E. King.
Judges for the contest were: Principal L. M. Hetherington, Stamford Seminary; Mrs. Robert MacLaury, Roxbury; Principal Harry S. Douglas, South Kortright.
