year in the new High School Building. I hope this report will meet with their
approval.
In the January Regents 69 out of 76 papers were accepted, of which 14 were 90
or above. This makes 92.1 per cent of papers claimed that were accepted. In
the June Regents 168 out of 181 papers were accepted. According to the Albany
marks there were 24 papers with marks of 90 or above. There were accepted in
June 90.3 per cent of the papers.
In January we find the following marks: English 4 years one 90 percent and two
87 per cent, one 100 per cent in Commercial Arithmetic, one 100 per cent in
Civics, one 99 per cent in Biology, one 92 per cent, one 91 per cent in
History B. In June we find the following marks: One 87 per cent and one 92 per
cent in Elementary Algebra, one 100 per cent and one 98 per cent in
Intermediate Algebra, one 92 per cent in Geometry, in Physics there were three
above 90 per cent, in English three years there were nine who secured above 80
per cent, in Physics 15 out of 16 passed and there were weveral subjects in
which all passed.
The Class of 1925 consisted of 11 who were graduated and according to the
Regents report, ten are entitled to Regents Diplomas; among them are three
Ninety Count Diplomas, three College Entrance Diplomas and seven Academic
diplomas of 72 counts.
During the four years, 1922-1925, thirty-eight scholars have been graduated,
Of this number thirty-four either have entered higher schools of learning or
intend to do so.
The table below indicates the progress of the school showing the total number
of papers accepted at Albany in January and June of each year since 1914:

8 HOBART HIGH SCHOOL
The registration in the High School during the past year has been 61 while in the grades it was 123, making a total registration of 184. This is probably the largest attendance the school has ever had.
The scholarship record of the grades has been relatively high compared with the High School. Nearly 90 per cent of the entire eight grades were promoted. This speaks well for the efficiency of our grade teachers, who are not afraid to work overtime if necessary, for the success of the scholars in their charge. The attendance of the whole school has been considerably more than 85 per cent, which shows that the attendance law has been quite rigidly enforced.
During the past year the three who attained the highest average standing in each grade and the five highest in the High School for each month were published as Class Leaders, while the Honor Roll, which was printed, consisted of all who attained an average of 80 per cent. The scholars have been eager as ever in watching for their monthly reports to see wheter they were among the Class Leaders on the Honor Roll. The percentage of scholars in the grades and High School who were successful each month in having their names on one or more of these lists, has been very high.
The Annual Prize Speaking Contest was held March 20, 1925. The Auditorium was completely filled to greet the contestants. The excellent showing of the scholars reflected the careful and competent training of Mrs. J. B. Rich. The High School Orchestra, under the capable leadership of Mr. G. C. Wirtz, added much to the enjoyment of the contest.
On the evenings of April 2 and 3, 1925, the Senior Class presented the comedy entitled "Officer 666." The success of the play was due quite largely to the efficient efforts of Miss Margaret Bundy, who has had previous preparation for such work. The Auditorium was croded the first night and well filled the second. Without doubt it was one of the most successful plays ever given in our High School.
So many people have to stand at the different High School entertainments given during the year, and especially at Commencement time, that the Board are of the opinion that the school should purchase one hundred more seats.
In basket ball and base ball, although we have not won any pennants, yet Hobart High has been represented by strong teams that have made a creditable showing among the teams of this vicinity. Early in the winter we held Oneonta High to a very close score on our local court. Oneonta won the championship in her own Tri-County League.
The Athletic Association was successfully maintained during the year by the loyal co-operation of the scholars and the enthusiastic
